People have already decided that they don't really want an Xbox this gen and Scorpio won't change that. Unless of course you're under the delusion that PS4 only sells this well because of power difference. |
Sure, the idea there is equal contest, that MS has serious chance to turn the tables on Sony is ridiculous & ignores global sales.
It's based solely on 360's performance, which didn't sell more in the end, and only did that well because Sony did poorly.
MS fanboys tend to over-estimate 360 itself, given they tend to live where 360 did disproportionately well. (bubble world)
Of course "winning #1 console prize" isn't necessary for viable platform, and quality product will impact their relative success.
Ultimately the purpose of MS marketing is to target people who potentially are in the market for a Xbox console.
It would take more than 1 gen (or at least 1.5 gen in new paradigm) of Sony fucking up for most Sony fans to abandon ship.
But sure, if MS delivers with Scorpio, and continue with next gen, they will be prepared if Sony does make mistakes in future.
