For the last several years I've been keeping track of the games I've finished during any particular year, and I though it would be interesting to see how my games stack up against other people's similar lists. In 2016 I actually finished more games than during any other year since 2011.
Over the course of the last 12 months I played through 26 different games, on five different platforms. For comparison, in 2011 I finished just 16 games, in 2012 13, in 2013 14, in 2014 19, and in 2015 20. So 2016 was actually quite a good year for playing games for me. Here's a list of the games I played all the way to the end last year. The games in Bold indicate a first time playthrough:
- Persona 4 (PS2)
- El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron (PS3)
- Dark Souls (PS3)
- Sly: Thievious Raccoonus (PS3)
- Sly 2: Band of Thieves (PS3)
- Batman: Arkham Asylum (PS3)
- Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (PS3)
- Child of Light (PC)
- Suikoden (PS1)
- King's Quest Chapter 1: Rubble Without a Cause (PC)
- Dark Souls 2 (PS3)
- Limbo (PC)
- Legend of Grimrock (PC)
- The Stanley Parable (PC)
- Borderlands (PS3)
- Heavenly Sword (PS3)
- Reigns (PC)
- Leo's Fortune (PC)
- Resonance of Fate (PS3)
- Sir, You Are Being Hunted (PC)
- Final Fantasy V (PC)
- Deus Ex: Human Revolution (PS3)
- Borderlands 2 (PS3)
- Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor (PS3)
- The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC (PC)
- Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (PS4)
For me, 2016 was a year of playing through my huge backlog of games. Most of the games on the list are ones I have owned for a long time, but which I've never gotten around to before. PS3 still remained my most played platform by far, followed closely by PC. I didn't get a PS4 until the very end of the year, and both my PSP and 360 have been sitting unused for quite some time now, although I still have a few games I need to play on them at some point, like Lost Odyssey on the 360.
Of course, there were a lot of other games I played as well, but didn't finish last year, like Tales of Xillia 2 and Final Fantasy XV, which I am currently playing.
What about you? How many games did you finish in 2016? What games were they and on what platforms did you play the most? What kind of year of gaming did you have in 2016?
