When smartphones/tabs have more power, on modern 14nm SoCs, simply restraining scope to "portable" hardly ensures winning impression. Although 14nm SoC was/is certainly within realm of possibility for Nintendo (as for smartphones/tabs), RAM bw/power issues still remain. Clearly 14nm would have enabled SOME higher performance even if full ~30% perf:watt couldn't be used if memory bw increased to match.
