When will 3DS' successor launch?

The Switch won't fail because it will be sold at a profit out of the gate. Kimishima-san said so. But the Switch is just one revenue stream and Nintendo's mobile games will be the other. Nintendo will still have two pillars, Switch and mobile. So in a way smart phones are the 3DS successor.

You shouldn't give up so soon. Even if it does not fail commercially it can still fail in every other possible way :)

 

Well, the crazy thing is Nintendo is coming out with a gaming tablet that is more powerful than their last home console, so it makes "Nintendo" sense to call it a home console. All games Nintendo makes will work on one device so there is no reason to expect more devices in the future. I'm not giving up. I'm giving in to Nintendo's weird logic. The 3DS will be the last in the DS line, just as the GB Advance was the last in the line of GameBoy systems. The Switch has joined home console and portable into one Siamese conjoined twin and medical science is not advanced enough to separate them.
