It's incredible that, despite the doubts, that a new IP like Splatoon, a Wii U game that is a third person, online mutiplayer shooter, was able to capture the hearts and minds (and wallets) of people in Japan when so much of the gaming landscape has changed (and where the shooter genre hasn't been the most popular). Now we see merchandise, Callie and Marie concerts, tournaments, etc. for such a game. A great story and one game the Wii U can absolutely get credit for. It's pretty interesting that Splatoon may possibly outsell juggernaughts such as Persona 5, FFXV, MGSV, KH3, DQXI (PS4 only, I mean) etc. LT in Japan.
