I dont think so, it seems that game cannot be focused on handheld or home console mode only, game need to be same in both modes, difference will be just visualy between portable and home console mode.

I dont expect in any case Mario Maker on Switch, we already have it on Wii U and on 3DS..

It's a simple game, it can work well in either mode. And I fully expect a Mario Maker port for the Switch on its first year. This is one of  the games that lost a lot of sales for being on the WiiU, and does not need a sequel, just an updated vesion to work well on the Switch. For me, the 3DS version was just an attempt to see how share levels between different versions, in preparation for the Switch.

Point is that need to work same in both modes, most likly it want work with touch screen in on mode and without screen in different mode. It has lost sales being on Wii U only and thats why they ported to 3DS. 3DS version is easy money grabber and game actually suits perfectly for 3DS and dual screen.
