Knowing that I can play as a man who rescues a princess makes me want to play this game more. Most normal boys and men dream about being a hero and protecting those they love and care about and I want the games that I play to compliment those dreams. Furthermore, most normal girls and women are attracted to alpha men who are willing to go out and risk their lives to protect their wives and children. This is normal human nature.
Only a pretty twisted newspaper outlet would criticize something like this. I wonder who owns the New York Times(?) I wonder if it might be some sick elite who profits from the misery of people and who wants to keep people dependent on corporations and government rather than each other... The message that women are better off without men sounds a lot like divide and conquer social engineering to me.
