What a bizarre story... Both the law itself and anybody who buys into this.
I mean, a US law protects people around the world. For real?
Anybody learn the concept of jurisdictional authority? They buy that the US is somehow omnipotent global savior?
Does it cross the mind that dictating affairs of foreign countries leads to war?
Yet this dimwitted law sweeps that under the rug, prancing about in its self righteousness,
ignoring the hard consequences of it's premise were it to be taken seriously as "law", which it obviously cannot/willnot.
And lets just take most obvious applications of this.
How is this helping Raef Badawi, Saudi blogger beaten and jailed for alleged atheism? Literally, how does it help him?
It doesn't, there is no plausible course of action that will actually follow thru on the promise.
Saudi Arabia remains one of if not the largest US military customers with cooperation at all levels, and we won't touch them.
Yet the people backing this are all happy to feel like the morally righteous global saviors.
I don't even see this as a real law, if there is no forseen mechanism for enforcement then it isn't a real law.
Is US automatically at war to enforce it when diplomacy fails? Does it impede US foreign relations in any way?
Does it actually even impede US domestic policy in any way? (If so, worries about Trump muslim policy is gone, right?)
This is just a feel good "official statement" that is a waste of well paid officials time.
Unless they are well paid to keep the citizens sedated and distracted by irrelevencies.
Oh, and the UK is now denying Jedi followers the dignity of recognition as a religion. Fucking fascists, lets bomb them.
