Mario Run will make money, it's developed for one of the cheapest OS'es to develop for, after all. But it's not the primary goal. Have you seen this

great point too, its hilarious that in the same time period in which Pokemon has possibly its biggest worldwide first week  release of all time (potentially by a big margin, 10 millIon sold?), somehow Nintendo's stock gets hit

Yup. 3DS sales are noticeably up from November 2015. Apps on smartphones can definitely be a "bridge", just like Iwata anticipated.
