For how many generations have this power issue been discussed?
The mass market doesn't care for who has the best graphics. They want the best games.

We are the vocal minority who think that power is what matters the most.

I look at Zelda on Switch working perfectly; i look at companies like EA, Take-Two and Bethesda supporting Switch after the Wii U fiasco and i think that Nintendo has gotta be doing something right for that support to happen.
Come January 12th/13th, everyone will forget about this and will be reminded - again - of what truly matters: games.

Those were different times. The mass market is happy to play smartphone games the more their lives get more complex as they get older.

The core gamers who truly love gaming want power and have always wanted the best.

Are you sure? Or at least, are you sure those people (core gamers) make a difference on who sells the most?

The mass market has reacted pretty much the same way over time: they want the coolest/popular console and the one that gets the best games.
Why didn't N64 outsold PS1 3:1? Why did XBOX (GC too) get trounced by an inferior machine (PS2)? Is the difference between PS4 and XB1 that BIG that explains why PS4 is pratically outselling 2:1, without signs of changing anytime soon?

I agree that there are people that want the very best HW, but that is, and always was, the minority.
See what happens when Scorpio gets released and you'll see how the power talk will change to the best games talk - or something like that.
