It's funny how people believe that they understand things better than the actual scientists. People have spent almost their entire lives studying these things, but I guess your common sense beats that.
I also love the argument that scientists have been wrong before.
It's like going to the doctor for a check-up and he tells you you have cancer. And then you go "doctors have been wrong before. I'll ignore what you just said. We don't know for sure". Then you go to 8 other doctors and they all say the same. The 10th says you're fine. So, you take your chances and decide to do nothing about it.
Same with your car. Mechanics have been wrong before, so why trust them?
Well, guess what? They are specialists and as such, they're much more likely to be right than you and your limited understanding of the topic.
