Just grind a bit in the first levels... once you have Super Pikeball + Attract, you can even auto-grind while watching a movie or TV-episode:
Attract or at least MaxAttract collects enough hearts and magic that you don't have to worry that Shantae runs out on one of them while being attacked by enemies.
