Not to argue with yoru preference but under what circumstances does someone play games for more than 3hours on the go? Genuine question. The less frequently you have to remember to recharge before leaving your house the better, but does anyone feel 3hours is too short for one play session?

I have tried to explain once in this thread, there are times when people forget to charge and then take their console on the go. With a longer battery life, that problem is not serious (it also happens to me with my laptop... it happened to me today; matter of fact) so it is not always about playing for five straight hours (although with Monster Hunter being on 3DS, I have been known to run the battery down but I will not use that because that situation is not one I believe is common amongst gamers), but about the convenience of having a longer battery life.
