Digital Foundry beg to differ.

I'll take their words [and my eyes] over yours.

I dunno. They already said that the Xbox One version is a little above 720p at its lowest. I don't think that Switch which will be half the power will be running it. On top of that there is only one game that uses the engine. KH3 went with Unreal. I'm doubtful that they will be working on scaling it down to work with lower power devices like Switch.

If KH3 is using Unreal Engine it should be easier to port.

To be honest just reduce some asset quality. Put some effort into it. Honestly maybe the XBox One versions should be canned, lets be honest, Square-Enix's Japanese games sell like shit on the XBox. Those resources would be better spent on the Switch which will be the market leader in Japan.

Square-Enix wrongly bet the farm this generation that PS4 would bring back the Japanese game market, and thus making XBox One versions made sense because it's an easy port. But the way this generation is unfolding is now very different.

Besides, I think it's possible to port games with a wider range of spec.

Metal Gear Solid V runs on a 1.8 TFLOP PS4 with 8GB of RAM ... but it also runs on a 0.25 TFLOP XBox One with 512MB of RAM total.

Super Street Fighter IV was able to be ported to a 3DS and still relatively play exactly the same.

Back in the day, hell most of what we played in terms of arcade ports were huge stretches. Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter played fine on a SNES, despite the arcade hardware being probably about 5-10x more powerful.

Nintendo could also use some version of checkerboard style rendering ... Nvidia I believe has also been experimenting with this.
