To be honest, I am not sure why companies announce games so far in advance of release. It makes sense for a console manufacturer once the console is launched, so people will buy the product in anticipation, but announcing them far in advance of even the launch of the platform seems pointless.
But as far as advertisement goes, most games are not advertised until launch day, and most of the rest not until under 2 weeks before they launch.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
