TRADITIONAL JAPANESE GAME INDUSTRY

If the Japanese market is to remain alive than gaming devices and their games need to sell well in Japan, western sales have nothing to do with that and he never mentioned profits.

? I really don't understand your argument.

Japanese games absolutely don't need to sell well in Japan to stay alive if they find success in the west. People outside of Japan also love traditional Japanese games.

If FFXV is considered as part of the traditional Japanese game industry and is popular and profitable in the west then a decline in Japan does not mean the doom of the traditional Japanese game industry.

There's like 3 or 4 non-Nintendo Japanese franchises that are really viable in the West, Final Fantasy is one of them and even that is declining. I don't see FFXV actually *selling through* numbers beyond FFXIII.

S-E got bailed out a bit by overshipping, but that does not come without a price either, retailers will remember that next time once they have a ton of these swimming around in the discount bin.

Anyone who thinks this is a healthy situation, well it just reminds of me of this comic strip
