Until their "cosying up" becomes anything more than "yeah I'd love to see Nintendo games on our consoles", it's nothing. Phil Spencer saying nice things about the competetion doesn't mean Microsoft are "cosying up" with Nintendo in hopes of trying to get their content on their platform (which would be weird, because MS have started publishing their content outside of their platform). Just like Shuhei Yoshida saying nice things about the Switch as you can see in this thread doesn't mean Sony is trying to cozy up with Nintendo to get their content on their platform. Even though they obviously would love to, because who wouldn't love to get more quality games on their own platform. If Nintendo for some reason actually were to decide to stop making their own hardware, they would either a) go mobile only or b) become a third party multi-plat publisher.

Nintendo congratulated MS on the XBox anniversary though, that raised my eye brow because Nintendo *never* does anything like that. I think something is up with these two.

Could be a Mario x Minecraft cross over but I do think something is up. Who says Nintendo would be one giving up more content by the way? They could very well end up in a deal where they get more/better content from MS for their Switch platform while only having to give up say some Virtual Console stuff and maybe a Metroid.

Who knows. Everyone just assumes Nintendo cooperating with MS in some way means some kind of automatic "ERHmagawd Nintendy is teh thurd partyz, Mario 128 comingz for XBoxers", when it may be more like Halo and Minecraft x Mario for Switch for some token XBox support for MS so MS can crow about it.

But at that point, what's in it for either of them? I could see MS eventually going third party (now for the love of god, people, don't make a fucking big deal out of me saying that) because they might find that just publishing their own software and trying to set up their own storefront with W10 will have higher margins than keeping on pushing their own hardware, but if they are in that situation, it makes no sense for them to skip out on loads of extra sales for Halo and Gears et. al. on the PSWhateveritiscalledbythen, and sure, if Nintendo's console is appealing at that point in time as well, then yeah, they'll get support too. But Nintendo releasing a few games on the Xbox in exchange for a few games from MS on their system? Could create a very tough PR situation because people might expect to get more Nintendo games on non-Nintendo system, wether that's realistic or not, and at the same time, Microsoft wouldn't have much to gain from that either, so it would be a waste of the likely enormous wads of cash they'd have to chuck at Nintendo to convince them. Wads of cash that could probably be used to purchase 10 times more third party exclusives than what they'd get from Ninty. Just doesn't make any sense to me.
