PS4 Pro will extend the life of the generation a little. But I don't think we're going to get a lifespan as long as the 7th gen. Because PS4 (and Scoprio) can't deliver Native 4K on AAA titles but they are delivering upscaled 4K they will manufacture demand for true 4K and thus bring on the 9th generation. Which still will only be able to deliver native 4K on AA titles, but not AAA.

100 million is possible, but unlikely.

I wonder if this puts PS4 at 2:1 over Xb one? Probably not, I imagine Black Friday put Xb one over 25 million if it wasn't already there before BF.

You are putting too much stock into the relevance of native 4k. And as for the lenght if this gen, I still stand by my original assessment that we won't see 9th gen consoles from Sony/MS till chip fabrications processes shrink from 14nm to 7nm. Chip fabrication is the harbinger of a new generation of consoles.

I also think that 100M is pretty much guaranteed at his point. Say by the end of this year Sony does 54/55M. And then puts in a 20M year next year (which is very likely cause we will have a sub $199 PS4 then) we are looking at around 75M at the end of 2017. Now even if sales drop off a cliff all it has to do is sell 12..5M consoles each year for 2018 and 2019. Mind you, this gen has still not yet got its RDR, GT or GOW. Can you imagine how sales will be for a $199 console with games like RDR, GTS and GOW looming around? Still think it's unlikely?

On another note, here is an interesting observation. 3 of the top 5 best selling home consoles of all time are Playstations. And The PS4 is racing to make that 4 out of the top 5. Yet some people still doubt the relevance of Sony in the home console market?

Don't forget GTA6.  This will come near the end of the gen and sales of ps4 that holiday will be insane.  Vast majority of gta copies will be sold on ps4 and by then the base version will probably cost $199 if not $149.
