I could go to Amazon right now and find plenty of Blurays over $20. It isn't exactly difficult. Just check out the new release category. The fact that you mostly buy blurays a few months to a year or more after release doesn't mean they came to the store priced sub-$20 on release day.

You would be lying. 99% of blu ray on Amazon.com are $19.99 or less, and that is at full price. The only movies I see that that are higher are collections, tv sets, and quite a few disney movies.

And I'm just looking at the first few pages where it is new releases.

Maybe he's checking Amazon.ca :p
It is 24.96 and 34.99 here for blu-ray and 4K respectively. Actually blu-ray is going up further, I want the Girl who leapt through time, yet it's sitting steady at 28.99. Too much. (New releases on DVD are 19.88 here) So basically 20,25,35 for new releases. 3D is still available too at the 30 slot.

But with the crappy exchange rate, blu-ray is actually cheaper here, $18.79 for new releases, $26.34 for 4K. Too bad it doesn't feel that way. Did not get a 30% salary raise in the past 2 years.
