What did you all think of, "Arrival"?

The "gift" was the way of thinking, required to express yourself in their language.

There was no time travel.

She has flash's of future events, in the future she writes a book about understanding their lanaguge, that helped her understand their language in the present.

Why did they come to teach us their language? because in 3000 years time or so, a event will unfold where they will need human help. Your telling me a race as advanced as them, that can "see" into the future 3000 years ahead of time, wont be able to plan there way out of a bad situation, even with 3000 years forewarning? Yet somehow they "need" humans to help them then? give me a break.

 

I just felt it was kinda corny and lame, and didnt really fit together that well plot wise or from a story purspective.
