I think taking the call from Taiwan was fine and sent a message.
However going on Twitter to post antagonizing Tweets I think is ... probably not wise.
I think things like that are going to push extremist elements in the Chinese government to force their own leadership to respond and beef up their own military more urgently which isn't a good thing.
Then you will have hardliners in the Trump camp telling him he has to respond to that, and the whole cycle of stupidity keeps escalating.
