I was with you until the last sentence.

Its actually democrats who are against requiring an ID. https://www.aclu.org/other/oppose-voter-id-legislation-fact-sheet

"Research shows, for example, that more than 21 million Americans do not have government-issued photo identification; a disproportionate number of these Americans are low-income, racial and ethnic minorities, and elderly."

I'm all for government providing an ID free, primarily for the poor. But dems have a long list of BS reasons why we shouldn't.

You misunderstand. Dems aren't against IDs because of a "long list of BS". They're against it because Republicans abuse the system and disenfranchise many voters. Republicans very much so suppress the vote. Hell, Trump got mad that that county in Nevada kept their polls open so "certain groups" would get to vote......."certain groups" that were already in line to vote, waiting to do their civic duty, but the line was so long (because Republicans do things like cut polling hours and polling locations) that the polling hours were closed with several people still in line.

But that's a different monster when it comes to Republicans suppressing the vote. We're talking about voter ID. So why are Dems against it, if not for a "long list of BS"? How about how Republicans find out what kind of IDs people get, based on race, then whichever ID is mostly used by black people, they make it ineligible to vote

Dems would actually be for a national ID. Because it enfranchises all eligible voters. Republicans would be against it, considering they like to find what "types of ID" specific demographics use the most, then make that type not valid to vote. A unilateral system of ID would take away the advantage they have. Also, they'd probably scream "states' rights" because the federal government would be "overreaching in dictating what a state requires for ID".

Mmmhmmm... okay buddy...

I believe a simple state ID should be required for voting. I think that's what the average right winger wants but dems are against it for BS reasons.

So the same party that thinks a state ID for voting is a burden for colored people also thinks we should have a national ID to work? Did you actually read the article, left wing groups hate it.
