What missteps?

Not allowing full mod support in Skyrim/Fallout 4, stripping the PS4 Slim of the optical port, not including an UHD blu ray player in the Pro and not allowing the Pro to boost frame rates on non-Pro-patched titles with unlocked frame rates. No HDR passout for PSVR.

They weren't allotting Bethesda more ram to run the mods, not outright denying them. Bethesda was just trying to shame Sony into getting their way.

Using an optical port on a console is just silly. Optical out of the TV into your sound system so you're not limited to just the PlayStation.

Hvec x256 will change the playing field for 4K in a way that will render UHD discs unnecessary. And you can't just increase specs and get better performance on consoles, as the games are hardware optimized. There needs to be a patch to get additional performance, so this is left up to the devs.

The last one is stupid, and while it's a bad decision, it's definitely not a company-ruining decision.
