The games from X-Men vs Street Fighter up until Marvel vs Capcom had 3 punches and 3 kicks. Marvel vs Capcom 2 replaced medium punch/kick with assist 1 and 2 (assists were done before by pressing medium punch + kick). Medium punch/kick was done by pressing the light button twice. Marvel vs Capcom 3 had light/medium/heavy attack, and a launch button. I actually prefer the new set up. Since most people are going to be playing the game on consoles, it makes sense to have a layout that's made with a console controller in mind. I don't feel like buying an expensive joystick. |
There's trigger buttons too. The launcher button is a wasted command. Everyone already universal launchers in the previous games. It wasn't necessary to have a dedicated button for. I would much prefer a 6 button set up to anything else, but a 4 button with lp &mp being mapped to the same is fine too.
There's such a lower range of combo posibilities being limited to the LMH set-up and it's very much, oversimplified. MvC3 didn't even have half circle motions for attacks that uused to be half circle in older games. These companies are basically saying, "You're too stupid to have a wider range of attacks." Look at what they did to street fighter.
