I also wonder if Switch will get its own versions of Smash and Mario Kart, especially as Nintendo usually do one per gen. I can't see another version of Smash for a long time seeing as how much sheer effort Sakuri and his team had to put into the Wii U version. Had Wii U been sitting on Xbox one numbers I dont think we would have seen Switch until 2018.

Yeah, Mario Kart and Smash are once a gen titles, so every ~ 6 years or so. Both the latest titles are not that old, came out 1-2 years ago, next installments should arrive around 2020.

That's the thing. The Switch isn't coming out in 2018 or '19, it's coming in a few months. Nintendo can't afford to wait for a completely new smash bros and Mario Kart. Plus whatever happens to the next installment of Smash, for a pretty good amount of people, it'll be tough to leave behind the roster we have right now. The Wii U/3DS installments probably have, arguably, the greatest crossover of game characters ever (no offense to MvC fans, just mainly about video game characters). It'll be hard to match such a roster. Mario Kart I guess can get more improvements feature-wise but the gameplay seems to be down and pat.
