Either way my previous point still stands.

Until I can be shown otherwise, MGS V was bank. Like every other MGS. I see no evidence of tossing anything into an endless money pit. It's remarkable it turned out as well as it did.

If the $80M budget is accurate, and we assume Konami made at least $40 on each game (probably average of Standard and Collector editions), then they made $160M more than the budget in just 4 months.  It's probably made at least $180M-$200M more than budget by now.  There's a reason Konami is trying to continue the series without Kojima, it continues to make them a ton of money.

And I'm sorry, but if anyone is siding wtih Konami, they are either a Konami fanboy (but completely ignoring the devs that made Konami Konami) or they just like being on the opposite side of popular opinion, without good reason.  There is no excuse for Konami's actions.  This would be the same as Disney constantly bitching and moaning about the Marvel movies costing so much money, even though they make 100's of millions of profit from them.  And then when the next Avengers movie cost more than the last Avengers movie, they treat the director and crew like shit, not even allowing the director to speak to anyone else on the crew.  Doubt people would be siding with Disney in this instance.  Of course, Disney knows that the Marvel movies are guaranteed cashcows, so they have no problem spending money on them.

Personally, I was pissed at Konami way before this when they broke up Team Silent because they wanted Western devs to make the Silent Hill series.  It hasn't been the same since.  I was hoping Kojima could return it to its former glory, but we all know how that played out.
