But to answer the question, let's take a developer I'm quite fond of, Retro Studios, and visit the same scenario. If Retro were to release a trailer for a new IP, with no gameplay footage and no indication of what kind of game it will be, and then, six months later, released another trailer that still doesn't answer either of those questions, I would have the exact same doubts. Certain devs do have gifts, I won't deny that, but that does not make them infallible or eliminate the possibility of mistakes. And the longer we go with no indication of gameplay premesis, type, or plot, the more concerned I become that the developers themselves are unsure of those things too. |
Fair point and I would have to agree with you.
I'm not gonna lie, I do have that voice at he back of my head asking... what if the game sucks? it just so happens to be that I've not had a reason yet to doubt questions Hideos dev prowess in the last almost 20yrs.
A pedigree like that has to count for something. Hell, the last time he decided to branch out of MGS he made Zone of the enders which is today arguably one of the best mech type action adventures and stylized. Then he dabbled a little with the Castlevania reboot, Lord of Shadows (at least the first part) and that turned out to be the first 3D Castlevania game that was actually great. And then silent hills PT.... which is right now the most valuable free demo of all time.
I just have way more reasons to believe in the dude than to doubt him.
