What a poor argument it's clear you didn't even read the second post either, the price cut happened and sales spiked for only two weeks then returned to the usual levels for another 2-3 months, this flat out says pricing was never the actual issue. Do you know what caused sales to rise again, the release of software after 3D Land released the was a steady flow of releases which made the platform appealing.
As for the PSP well the NES launched in the 80s guess what consoles are still going today, Gameboy Color and Advance are far easier to diferentiate than the name 3DS especially as they were advertized from the start.
