Even normal BR aren't setting the world on fire. Nobody wants to buy discs to see movies anymore, they just want to stream or download it.
I see it in a different point of view. Putting a BR drive on the PS3 helped to reach that horrible price point, destroying its chances to compete. Sony noticed that screwing their most important product to help push a media format that pays miserable royalties to a group with dozens of companies wasn't really a good idea.
