That would be nice, I did not know you can do that :P I remember Destiny was sold couple of days earlier at retail but you couldn't play it until official release. Anyway, here you are lucky to get a physical disc at release day if you pre-order.

Yeah ask me in 20 years if I care about a game I bought 20 years ago :D I still have many original Xbox games I bought over 10 years ago and they're not exactly awesome on my current console either.
And no, it's not time for a digital only era yet obviously but we're getting there step by step.
