^Keep in mind XY posted a first week sales total of 4m. Given all the hype for these games and PoGo's success I think Nintendo definitely expected SM to beat that. I'm not so sure they did though judging by the Japanese sales. It may end up very close, and perhaps that's why they haven't reported FW sales yet if it did come in a little below XY's debut.
