Sounds like nonsense. Why would a small store in Italy order 150 units of NES mini and 140 controllers. This isn't Nintendo's next zomg console... And not to mention that you said so yourself there weren't pre-orders avaliable WW... So why would a small store be reserving pre-orders when a) He knows Nintendo has done this previously, b) Orders 150 units based on what exactly? and c) Why would he risk customer dissatisfaction if Nintendo wasn't doing pre-orders?

Also whats even more interesting is that I just called my local ebgames and they said they only got 3 of them... So an eb games store in Canada which is the canadian gamestop gets only 3 but a small video game store in Italy gets 12? I am pretty skeptical...

But even if it were all true, it would continue to be dependent on Nintendo's estimates... Because it is Nintendo who needs to tell the manufacturer how much of each to make and then the manufacturer has to make them and etc. So if Nintendo predicts it is going to sell a blah amount, they will sign a contract with someone who has to meet a certain target by a certain time. I am pretty sure this has to be pre-planned before they officially announce it considering how we have had reports of manufacturers saying they will ship blah amount of say NX before the NX even got officially announced.

So when Nintendo announces it and the demand is higher than expected, they need to get more manufacturers or resign the contract which takes time cause they need more factories and etc. So even if it were all true, it would still be left to Nintendo's estimates and these things aren't made by using magic so they take time to get made and shipped and etc...

I can show you invoices if you want ;)

My shop is only 20 square meters, really small, but we are passionate gamers here, and we put our hearts on this pre-order campaing (the Mini NES one i meain). We worked well and had about 90 mini NES preordered from our customers, we asked for 150 because we wanted to ensure units for the whole month of december and also because lot of customers didn't preordered it because they though that it would have been easy to find the console. Yes, because Nintendo Italia told us until 2 weeks before the launch that there wouldn't be shortgages with the shipments, then they said "Some shortcut, you won't receive all the units" then the final results: 12 pieces on 150.... They know numbers since this summers, because all our suppliers gave big numbers since the beginning, knowing how Nintendo acted in the past.

The problem (I spoke for my country, Italy) is that here the publishers (Nintendo mostly) don't care about small indipendent shop like mine, but the truth is that when you have passion for what you are selling, you can reach good results. I had more preorders for PAper Mario Color Splash than COD Infinity Warfare (ONE and PS4 combined) and more reservation for Xenoblade Chronicles X (last year) than Star Wars Battlefront preorders (again here, PS4 and ONE combined).
