It all depends, Bush looked certain to be defeated in 2004 but he got 12 million more votes from the last election.

I doubt that is the case but I think the next election will see both candidates at 65 million plus votes.

Trump did lose the popular votes but he also got the most votes ever for a GOPer.

It all depends, If the democrats run the score in California it does not matter in the big picture.

John Kerry might be the most uncharismatic candidate I've ever seen.

Even today he still sounds like a walking, talking robot who can't emote for shit.

In politics this stuff matters. Besides, immediately in the wake of 9/11 I think Americans put a premium on "unity" so rallying around that was a benefit to Bush who was never really a hugely popular president to begin with. But he benefitted from that, it wasn't until 2005/2006 that widespread back lash to the Iraq War and the general "War on Terror" started to filter in even amongst people on the right.

Yes, John Kerry LOL

How on earth could the Democrats nominate such an unpleasant and uncharismatic figure? I don't get it.

And it happens time and time again. Who was the Republican guy I thought was so boring last time... fairly young, forgot his name. Such a boring person.
