So basically

$249.99 - Switch w/o game, 32GB storage

$299.99 - Switch w/Splatoon 1.5, 64GB storage

I really honestly don't see the $250 model selling much. Like the Wii U Basic Set and XBox 360 Core (Tard) Pak, no one is going to bother with the lower end SKU.

So the price is really $299.99.

You are totally wrong, It's like saying because PS4 1TB and Xbox S 1TB models price of those console are really $349. Some people dont need more memory or dont need Splatoon, and for $50 price difference they will rather buy new 3D Mario.

Where? It released March 27th in the US. The price drop took effect august 12th.

That was an $80 price drop in less than 5 months. That isn't even close to a majority of its lifespan.

I think this something we need to consider when predicting the success of the Switch.  $249 was seen as a bad price for the 3DS by the mainstream consumer. So much so that Nintendo completely bypassed the $199 price point and priced it at $169.  It's not impossible that they react the same way to the Switch. Probable when they learn its about half the power of a XBO, costs the same, has less than 100GB for storage, and many 3rd parties are taking a wait and see approach.

Personally, $199 with a game would have been the best price. Would be more of an impulse buy.  My guess is we're going to be looking at $299 for a game bundle. The same price for a 500GB PS4 or XBO bundle. And my guess is that'll be $249 some time next year.

Huge difference is that 3DS is just a handheld, while Switch is home console also, huge difference in perception of product because lotsa people will buy it for home console side of Switch. Compared to PS4/XB1 with Switch you get 2 in 1 device, real handheld and rela home console, while PS4 and XB1 are just a home consoles.

I really thought it would wind up being $300 at the lowest... With a decent launch lineup, bundle, and advertising (especially the unique hybrid aspect), I really think this could do very well at $250.

I really don't get how they're selling it at $250... Are they selling it at a loss after all those years of refusing to do that?

They were very specific about they will not sell Switch at loss in any case but that they listing marketing about price expectation.

We can definatly expect $250 for base model.

So what is the cheapest bundle for the switch, mario kart, and another controller?

$250, $40, $40 all sold separately. $300 to $310 is my hope.

Look at pricing of Wii U, $299 Basic model, $349 Premium model with more storage and one game and more accessories, while $399 Premum bundle with Wii U pro controler also.

So in case of Switch you will $249 and $299 for Basic and Premum bundles without Switch Pro controler, Swith Pro controler alone will cost $50-60.

Nothing is 244 usd. Why not say 249.99?

Because this prices are different currencies not in US dollars, offcourse if console cost near that price that in us will be $249.
