It's also sold out of most shops, though, so while I agree that I expect Japan to be the country least interested in the Pro (it's telling that the slim is not doing so hot in the West, but is doing quite well in Japan), it's still likely that the lack of availability is hurting its sales. It sounds like Sony sent the vast majority of Pro stock to the West, as Southeast Asian users are describing an inability to find any stock as well. It makes sense, given that the english-speaking countries are where Sony has real competition in the console space at the moment. |
Historicaly Japan has favored small appliances, due mainly to apartment living so the slim follows a long line of successful downsizing , the Pro being the very antipathist of that, along with rate of 4K adoption where most most likely factors in the reasons Sony delivered what it did.
The fact that Sony has aimed the Pro at a particular audience and there is no shortage of OG PS4's, plus the fact they now have a little better knowledge has to the ratio between Pro and OG PS4's, means they are better placed for the next lot of shipments so they won't loose any sleep over a small scale shipment of a product aimed to compliment rather than supplant the OG PS4.
