Where? It released March 27th in the US. The price drop took effect august 12th.

That was an $80 price drop in less than 5 months. That isn't even close to a majority of its lifespan.

I think this something we need to consider when predicting the success of the Switch.  $249 was seen as a bad price for the 3DS by the mainstream consumer. So much so that Nintendo completely bypassed the $199 price point and priced it at $169.  It's not impossible that they react the same way to the Switch. Probable when they learn its about half the power of a XBO, costs the same, has less than 100GB for storage, and many 3rd parties are taking a wait and see approach.

Personally, $199 with a game would have been the best price. Would be more of an impulse buy.  My guess is we're going to be looking at $299 for a game bundle. The same price for a 500GB PS4 or XBO bundle. And my guess is that'll be $249 some time next year.
