True, but it is a known fact that many Xbox gamers last gen have switched to the PS4. I think I should have been more specific: Smaller Xbox One userbase interested in shooters |
You gotta be kidding right? Shooters are the main target on X1, to say it's userbase is what shrinked most isn't what I think is the case.

Got love when people act like an old console with a great install base is supposed to sell well as if all those owners till buy games for it. I mean do you expect xb360 games to outsell xb1 games? Considering the very important install base and all? |
Fifa 17 is 2,14M on X1 and 0,28M on X360... how dare all those 85M users on X360 don't make it sell 4 times more than on X1?
Dr.Vita said: Huge mistake from Sony to release this game during the time in 2013 when PS4 launched. If you ask me the game should have never been called Gran Turismo 6, it should have been a release on PS Vita and it should have been called Gran Turismo Vita. The game and especially PS Vita would have got much more attention during holidays 2013 if this had happened. Maybe this game would have changed the whole PS Vita situation? I mean the franchise is big enough. |
If it released as PSVita game it would be very hard to cross the 6M sales of PS3 version.
walsufnir said: I guess GTS will be even further down the road as it seems to be severely lacking in singleplayer content which is a shame as I looked forward to a play a Gran Turismo again but as it seems the game will not be a standard GT game by any means and surveys already suggest that many people think the same. |
GTS isn't meant to be GT7 so no one should expect it to be. I'll buy it anyway and expect to be an enjoyable game.
Intrinsic said: looking at this its almost ridiculous that people compare forza to this. We should look at every single firza release (including horizon) and see how they stack up. Is there a racing franchise that has pushed as many units as GT? Maybe mario kart? |
Forza against GT, yes it's a totally reasonable comparison... people saying GT5 and 6 are a 5 or lower grade while Forzar is a 9... yes people totally loved FM 5 and all the downgrades.
On sales it's really a night and day comparison.

I remember that thread with VGC absurd data used on a legal process to try to paint GT6 as 2.3M sales, when it was double that |
Yes I remember that as well... using VGC on legal process should enable a countersuit for silliness.

Mario Kart. |
I don't consider Mario Kart as a racing franchise, but yes considering it, it's the only racing game that is on the same sales level as GT.

Nobody was "hopping" these GT games flop. But we expected decline and there has been. Will GT7 change that? Who knows. No single racing series outside of Mario Kart achieves GT numbers. But due to frequent releases the Forza series has done over 6 million physical and probably a few million more digital. So Forza has managed to do quite well with a different strategy than GT. |
Nobody? Are you sure? You are in here since 2010 to say that. We had plethora of people even cheering for a fail. People expected GT5 to flop and sell less than 8M, but ok if you want to ignore that.
The biggest Forza game haven't crossed what GT6 done and the series is on a decline. Considering the size of both Studios (PD around 100 and Turn 10 around 300) I don't see how GT 2 games per gen sales is comparable to the yearly release of Forza, the cost of the year releases of Forza doesn't align on the sales to make you say they are quite well against GT when you say GT6 haven't done good.
