I still doubt pokemon stars is anything more than a spin-off aswell. So... yeah. Looks bad to me. Not interested at all.

For now (of course there will more new games) we know for 3D Mario, Pikmin 4 and Mario and Rabbids RPG.

Rumours specifically saying that Pokemon Stars is 3rd game to Pokemon Sun and Moon, so you really don't have any reason to suspect that is spin off.
