Not entirely true as come when Switch launches it should be the 5th or 4th best selling game as right now it's closing in on SMK (may have already outsold it) on the SNES and can likely go on to outsell MK64. That's far from the worst selling, MK7 is being sold to a userbase of 60m and growing.
Regardless the original point Spemig made is correct as what's relevant to Switch's success is not how many Wii U owners migrate but how many 3DS owners migrate because if every non Wii U owning 3DS owner bought a Switch the console would become Nintendo's third best selling console.
