Forcing them to do something just doesn't make much sense to me. It'd only piss off the Wii U fanbase, and well, I don't really see it happening. They didn't force people to do the same with Twilight Princess. |
It doesn't make sense to you, but for Nintendo it could if that means higher Switch sales in the first year, because they need to make the Switch a success.
Sometimes we forget, or not pay attention, that we're talking about business, and sometimes what makes sense from a business perspective is the opposite of what we, gamers, want.

But even fans have a limit on the amount of abuse they will take. I was a Nintendo fan since 1994, but if Zelda is made Switch exclusive, I will refuse to buy it or Switch on principal. Wii U gamers comprise the loyalist core of Nintendo's dwindling fanbase, pissing them off is not a good idea. |
I feel the same, if they don't launch Zelda BotW on Wii U I'm done with them.
But you and I, and the rest of member of this site and others, are the minority and we have top accept that we don't represent the whole gaming market. Cancelling the Wii U version of BotW may mean them losing a few hundred consumers (and it remains to be seen how many of them would end up buying the new console at a later date), but if that means selling several thousand units more of Switch to the general users, they may find that it's worth it.
Please excuse my bad English.
