Yes this might look funny as a meme, but the actual part in the anime this is taken from actually has amazing animation quality and a fluidity that you almost never find in shonen anime. As for the new Pokemon style, having seen it in action, I actually quite like it. I reminds me of studio ghiblis style a little. They seem so be going so a bit of a more fluid, expressive stlye, wich again looks great in motion and bad in freeze frames.

Yeah, it does. And it's very exaggerated too. But even when you look at real life camera footage frame by frame especiallly with 30+ fps you will get some wierd freeze frames inbetween.
It's just a bit sad that something that is actually part of the best animation of the series, gets held up as some kind of low point. If you want to see some really bad and lazy animation check out Sailor Moon Crystal. That shit's atrocious.
