Oh, you mean when they ported it from the least powerful system of the generation to a much more powerful system (Xbox) and a vastly more powerful platform (PC)?  I can see why you'd say that was exactly the sameas porting to a system that's somewhat arguably less powerful overall and certainly less powerful in certain respects. 

My point with FFXIII is mainly that there are some things the PS3 simply is better at doing than the 360, and if FFXIII pushes the PS3 hardware at those tasks it's going to be very hard to find a way to make the 360 try to keep up without seriouslydumbing down whatever those things are.  And I think it's fair to say that FFXIII is going to be taking as much advantage of the PS3 hardware as it can. 

Unless I'm mistaken, MMORPGs are not known for pushing the envelope of their chosen hardware, sometimes precisely for the reason that they're always spread across as many platforms as possible.

I think it's clear that the PS3 is not going to be anything like the Dreamcast in terms of success/failure (it's already past the DC's lifetime sales and only seems to be gaining strength).  Add that to the fact that the Dreamcast is perhaps most famous for being the kiss of death for SEGA as a hardware company and I hope you can understand why your comparison would be seen as inflammatory. 

Also, didn't the Dreamcast have an amazing first year lineup?  I mean, I didn't own the system then, but I'm pretty sure I've heard that.

I think PS3 isn't doing so geat atm about the marketing part but they seem to be getting better at it, i still think they will fall last because 360 seems to be faster and better with graphics, but who knows ps2 sucked when it first came out because people didn't know how to write code for the emotion engine chipset, but God of war looks quite amazing compared to earlier games. Maybe the Cell processor still has it touch on winning on being faster and better, though using rambus based ram it has also that small disadvantage since cpu and ram corspond together.

The PS3 has certainly been legendary for horrible marketing.  That's pretty undeniable. 

However, I don't think I understand your point about XDR being inferior to GDDR3 because XDR and the CPU "correspond together".  Please elaborate.  Also, are you aware of the much lower latency of the memory in the PS3?  (Contrary to the high latency of past forms of Rambus memory.)
