Though I tend to agree, Trump's own party would impeach him if he went too far down this rabbit hole. Trump admitted in his 60 Minutes interview that large chunks of his cabinet have to be filled by lobbyists because no one else knows how to do anything, those lobbyists will be bought up by China and they will influence other members of the Republican party to eat Trump if this gets too ugly.
That said, the American people who probably riot on the lawn of the White House (yes, even those "blue collar" folkes) when they find out their shopping bill at Wal-Mart is now 30-40% higher and their new smartphone also costs 30-40% more. These people have had many chances to buy US-made goods and by and large they ignore them to buy cheap Chinese goods, or if they want to spend money they sure as hell don't want some vanilla American product (German or Italian please).
