That would be so dickish... After years in the market, I doubt the Vita can push itself as an alternative against the Switch in any effective way. The device is practically ignored in NA and with just a small userbase in Europe (at least compered to any other PS device over there). Only in Japan stands a decent success, but once the Switch comes out, it will lose its main strenght, being largely underpowered compared to the Switch. A Vita model that uses SD cards should have come long ago if it wanted to establish itself better before the Switch. |
It would be dickish but that's business. Yes Vita is weak compared to Switch but the wii outsold the ps3/360 and the performance ratio was far greater. wii gflops 11, both ps3 and 360 around the 250 gflops area. Vita 51 gflops, switch probably 400-600 gflops possibly less. Vita cpu performance looks to be about 4,400 mips (444mhz x 4 x 2.5mips). About half wii u performance and maybe about 1/8th of Switch. It seems the Vita only clocks its cpu up to 444mhz not the higher figures you see elsewhere in Vita specs. Turn the Vita into a mobile phone that works directly with a ps4 controller and wireless hdmi dongle. New product to compete with Switch.
