Yes, and public perceived it exactly like trailer says, like home console and handheld in one, not only like handheld or only like home console. Nintendo PR talk is not important at all because that's just PR talk, nobody really pays attention on PR talks, but people pay attention on commercials and infos they are giving about product.
Nintendo confirmed that Switch is not backward compatible with 3DS and Wii U games, of course we don't know all about Switch yet, we will know about all Switch possibilities and features in January. Point of first Switch trailer is just to show what is actually Switch and how it works, and they nailed it, they done great job with just one and 1st trailer.
