Not sure where you're getting 2m from. Steam Spy has it at 2.2m, while CD Projekt said it had sold 690k on GOG, and that GOG number is more than a year old.

Overall Witcher 3 sold 6m in six weeks, and has now sold nearly 10m according to CD Projekt. 

It was near 10 million in half 2016, now is easy over that. Will probabily hit 12 million and more as well.
