I never understood the hate for Federation Force. It's a spin-off, why should I expect it to be like a mainline game? Pokemon Ranger isn't supposed to be like Diamond/Pearl, same with Mystery Dungeon. Also, it was developed by Next Level Games, not Retro Studios or whichever Japanese studio handles Metroid. And even if you don't consider it a spin-off, it's on the 3DS! You want Metrood Prime 4 or whatever on the 3DS??

But I still agree with most of his points.

It's not hard to understand really.

Pokemon is a series that sees a mainline entry every 2 years at the very least.  Metroid on the other hand hasn't seen a release in nearly a decade.

Metroid Prime Pinball didn't really get that much hate despite being a much bigger departure for the series, because around that time, Nintendo was releasing Metroid games at a fairly regular rate.  Zero Mission, Fusion, Prime, Prime 2, Prime 3.  If Nintendo hadn't released a Pokemon game since Diamond and Pearl, and then announced Pokemon Ranger in 2015, you'd see the same reaction.  Same thing happened with Banjo Tooie, to a lesser extent with Kirby's Epic Yarn, and a bunch of other games.

I don't necessarily agree with that attitude, since a lot of these spin offs like Banjo Tooie wind up being really good games, but I definitely understand it.
