This is a good thing. Exclusives drive sales far more than multiplatform games. Unless you're really attached to Halo or Gears of War, you don't need an Xbox One if you already have a PS4. The same logic would be used by consumers over the Switch. Unless a particular multiplatform title lends itself to handheld play, they're going to be more likely to buy it on a platform they already own. So exclusives are going to be king.
Nintendo's handhelds have always had great third party exclusives because of the obvious hardware differences between handhelds and consoles. If that trend continues with the Switch, that's only going to be good news for Nintendo. Given the fact that Japan has shifted away from consoles over to mobile and handheld devices, we can expect a surge of Japanese developed exclusives, and along with Nintendo focusing their efforts on a single platform, this could mean a very strong line-up of exclusives for the platform driving sales. Adding in the fact that the Switch is likely pretty powerful and presumably can support some multiplatform games, we can expect relevant ports as well I'm sure.
