I don't own a PS3, but my brother owns one, so I could always borrow his. Ofcourse I do prefer to play on PC whenever possible. I just looked it up, and they do have it on Steam for $15, and isthereanydeal.com says it has been as low as $3.74. I'll definitely be looking into buying it this coming Winter sale. I also just checked out some videos of Doom II. It looks sick! I don't understand why I never considered buying the rest of the series until just now. |
The only thing you need to get used to is there is no Verticle aiming at all, so if there is an enemy on a layer above you the character will auto shoot the gun to hit it, only really comes into play with things like the rocket launcher where the shot is visible in the air as it flys up to the level it needs to go to, but yeah the Classic doom games which came packed in with Doom3 remastered on the X360/PS3 which is what Veknoid is talking about here are the best way to play them I think.
And yeah the GBA got ports of Doom 1 and Doom 2 and the sound was really great, music just hammering and really good quality monster screams which are important to some area's in the original dooms, you open the wrong door and find a room full of screaming imps at you... can be terrifying... well... it was 20 years ago, now it lights up the nostalgia part of my brain and reminds it about how that was the peak of game horror at the time, works for me still.
