Strange that you say that when battles are the dullest part of the game, even those supporting this game have to admit that. Even more shocking is that you say a barebones neverchanging battle system is more engaging than others which have the basic RPG 101 down that give them depth on top of their own unique gameplay features. SMRPG among most others actually has progression and variety with new party members, new gear, new moves (that actually do a variety of different things), new abilities, improveable stats, and so ons. The lack of even the most basic mechanics only makes me not want to get involved with CS. 

Well, because other people say that, doesn't mean it is true. I enjoyed the battle system, as there felt to be a bit of a puzzle element to it, rather than just choosing your attack and just.... doing it. I'd say it's more interesting than some of the standard RPGs out there. There are some of those things in CS in a sense. Being able to get enemy cards is in a sense like having partners, and since there are many types of those, there are some great situational moments for some of the enemy cards. Shell enemies can attack multiple enemies on the ground, spiked enemies can't be jumped on, and the shy bandit is great for collecting enemy cards you don't have. Plus, they stick around as long as possible, until they're knocked out by enemies. Battles are interesting in that there is a lot of experimentation in it. When you get deeper into the game, you can use multiple cards, and enemies are arranged in a certain order, which makes choosing your cards and in what order to use them more interesting. It def gives a new twist to the standard battle system. Also, there are a variety of moves and improvable stats as well. They're just not done in a traditional sense. There is no new gear, but really, that's not really needed. CS does an excellent job pacing itself, coming down to not how high leveled you are, but how skilled you are.
